Graphic Processor
The processor is like the central nervous system of the card. The processor interprets and executes commands related to the chip; Which processor you have essentially defines the card's capabilities.

Installed Memory
Memory is a very important attribute to consider when purchasing a graphics card. When your graphics card has more memory, it means it can hold more data. The more data it holds, the faster your computer will be able to show textured and 3-D images. Up to 64MB are consider lower-end cards, and 128MB and up are considered high end.

Interface
When upgrading your machine, choose the correct interface that will connect to your computer. Generally, older machines tend to have a PCI slot, and newer machines AGP. AGP has such high bandwidth that even used with lots of 3D graphics, it's hard to actually use it for all it is worth. However, as graphics continue to get more complicated, AGP will certainly come into more mainstream use.

Compatibility
The platform refers to the operating system of the computer you intend to use your graphics card with (e.g., Windows98 or OSX).

Memory Tech
Graphics cards come with various types of memory technology, or RAM. The type of RAM that is embedded on the card will have a significant effect on the card's performance. Briefly, there are descriptions of some types, below.

DDR
Double-Data Rate RAM essentially doubles the rate of standard SDRAM. Any DDR RAM will be quicker (and probably more expensive) than its non-DDR counterpart.

RDRAM
RDRAM basically doubles the output of SDRAM and also moves the data quicker. This is a high-end variant of RAM.

SDRAM
This is a high performance, faster variant on some other types of RAM. The S stands for "synchronous" because it uses a new technology to send spurts of data at specific intervals of time.

SGRAM
This is a graphics-specific type of memory used in high-end graphics cards. This type of memory sends data in blocks so that graphics appear less choppy when read.

Memory Data Width
The data width (similar to bit depth) determines the range of colors that can be displayed through the graphics card. The higher the data width, the more colorful the picture results will be.

Max. Screen Resolution
The resolution of the graphics card specifies the number of pixels (tiny points that collectively comprise an image) that the card can display on a screen. Higher resolution levels mean that the graphics card can display more pixels, and therefore crisper, more detailed images.
